Algee Smith's EP Listen, released June 26, 2017 and is available on major music streaming sites Spotify, Soundcloud, and was premiered exclusively on BET.
Historically R&B is known for providing music artists with a broad outlet to explore what lies in the fibers of each of their unique personal views, deepest thoughts, and wildest aspirations. R&B is the genre that portrays life's stories in it's truest form. Smith's album serves as a physical and emotional release from constant worry, the uncertainty of what is to come in the future and insecurities within relationships.
"We live in a crazy world, outside is raging, spirits are breaking, together we're safer girl you can be sure of that. There's no sense in going out tonight, it's not that we're lazy or trying to hide, underneath the covers intertwined..."
- Stay In
The soft and falsetto voiced singer captures the attention of his listener by catering to everyone. The dynamic track list ranges from mellow ballads with a piano and strings to upbeat party hits with a deep bass and an innate assortment of drums. Along with his poetic lyrics and rich tone that his voice carries, the musicality of his style and language is superb, complimentary addition to the genre. Listen is a small taste of paradise that was created with the same intensity as it would take to create diamonds. His work is a breath of fresh air to the wave of current music put out today. The R&B, soul, rap and new school cumulative is exactly what's needed to bring back the integrity and credibility to R&B.
