“Everything I do has a ripple effect.” Elizabeth Frances is the charismatic actress on the series “The Son”. Her optimism and distinct eruditeness resonates perfectly with her character Prairie Flower on the show. And off the camera, we learned that Frances is engrossed with the positive influence that her craft brings to others. She uses her platform to make a difference in her community and actively changes the way audiences perceive the images seen on screen.
Elizabeth on Shopping
“I go out to shop when my friend forces me to, otherwise I don’t go out. There’s something neat about my use of online shopping. I’m an online shopping addict. I actually just ordered some stuff from Naked Wardrobe, Topshop, usually something with a higher end designer I’ll go ahead and go into the store . Online, I order everything, and some things I don’t even need, especially from Amazon. Shoedazzle is fantastic too. Online shopping makes everything easier. For my style, I love simple and classic pops of personality. I love J-Lo’s style, classic lines, floral and lacy things that are a bit more understated. Thing that are inspired from classic Hollywood or just beautiful lines.”
Elizabeth’s Beauty Secrets
“I’m trying to learn everybody else’s secrets. For me, I work on my beauty from the inside. I think about who am I being everyday, what am I putting in my body, what am I eating, how much time do I put into working out and meditating. Those to me take precedence to who I am on daily in the world. I also keep a really good skin care regimen. I drink a lot of water!”
Her Passion and Drive
“I took on meditation when I had this 10 day silent retreat for 11 hours a day. It was pretty intense but, I found it incredible. Right now in the world, there is so much value to shedding your devices and just being with yourself. Wherever I go, I want to do my best to be kind to everyone. Kindness and thinking about others is a wonderful way to live. For my fans, I aspire to leave them with a sense of positivity. With positivity and hard work, and yes, things suck sometimes, but I want them to know that they have everything they need at any point in time and that it is up to them, through positive interaction, to be able to achieve what you want. I love working with kids in the arts. The arts are a place where they can learn to be self expressive and to find what is true to them, their own truth. When I was in art school, the knowledge and experiences I walked away with were amazing.”
Career
“In The Son it takes place during a time in history when everyone was doing terrible things for the the purpose of self preservation. Filming this story at the time we did, I realized the many parallels between this period of our history and what is going on in the world right now. Like marginalizing people so that you can hold power based on race. Going through this narrative of historical fiction, seeing people in 2017 still fight for their land, it has shown me that as people we tend to think that we have changed and evolved so much. But if you go back and read Shakespeare, at the heart of many of our struggles are common themes of wanting to be loved, valued, and the drama of those desires getting warped by power and greed. We justify these terrible things in the pursuit of what we call "success", although that may not be the right word. For Prairie Flower, the best thing about her is her feistiness and desire to have agency and choice and even love despite her hard environment. Her adaptability and pure drive to survive in a way that she wants to is what's so great about her.”
The Future
"In cinema, we have a lot of work to do. There’s a lot of stories that haven’t been told yet. The best way to change something is to figure out how to do it yourself. The only way I’ve ever gotten anywhere was through positive interaction and it kept me from losing myself. Who you are and the people who you interact with are your substance. Seek substance, not stuff. I just finished an indie film called Foxy Trot that I acted and was fortunate enough to be an executive producer in and it should be coming out in November. The Son is about to start shooting Season 2, and my husband and I are going on our honeymoon."
