Chelsea Rendon of Vida On STARZ Dishes On Season 3, Beauty Secrets, And New Projects.

Congrats on the new season of “Vida”. Without giving too much away, what can fans expect from this season and your character ‘Mari’?

This season is crazy, but I feel it's mainly about growth. The characters are really evolving, it's beautiful. As for Mari, she is in a tough spot. She’s on the outs with her family, the sisters, and her crew.

This is the 3rd and final season of “Vida”, how has your experience been on such an impactful platform, and your cast mates?

It’s unbelievable. This family we built is not something you get on every project. Also, to be able to represent for Latinos and the LGBTQIA community is so rewarding.

Let’s get into fashion, how would you describe your personal style? Are you a bargain shopper?

My go to is sporty-casual, but when I'm feeling girly or have events to attend, I like to dress up. I am not a bargain shopper, my closet is mostly from Express, but recently I have been buying from Latina-owned companies too.

Name your 2 fashion "must-haves" and why?

Hoops on hoops on hoops. Hoops just give me a little extra sass. Also a great pair

of jeans goes a long way.

How do you keep your skin fresh and clear as it is? Any notable products you live by?

I've always used dove soap to wash my face. My go to mask is Kiehls clay mask. I also use iS Clinical moisturizer, it's amazing. And I just got some new masks from Brujita that I can’t wait to try out. But really I have good genes, I never really had any trouble with acne.

We hear you take interest in karate? How’d you get started and how far along are you?

I worked with David Ayer on a film and he connected me with my sensei --who is just amazing. I started at the beginning of 2017, and I’m already a brown belt. The first 2 years, I pretty much lived at the dojo.

We share love for tacos as much as you, name your top 3 taco spots ever?

1st is Tacos Don Cuco in East LA, it's so good and it's the only real adobada you’ll find in LA! 2nd is Juan's Great Fiesta in Montebello, the asada is so bomb, been going there since I was like 5 years old. 3rd is Cactus (#1 in Hollywood or #4 in Sherman Oaks) they don’t all get the meat from the same place, trust, I did my research. The asada tacos are my favorite or the asada quesadilla.

Are there any other upcoming projects supporters should look out for or causes you support others can get involved in?

I am in a part documentary part fiction film called "The Infiltrators" that deals with detention centers back in 2011/2012. It is a heartbreaking story people need to watch. Also "The Tax Collector" written and directed by David Ayer is a gritty street crime drama. Both films should be out later this year.
